My Catch # 4

Metropolis Living, my 4th and final stop on what I am touting as my dream day!

Cherry On Top | Vin'yet Etc.

In my last post I said I was saving the best until last… What I mean by that is, while all of the places were awesome & amazing, for me personally this place was the cherry on top of a scrumptious cake!

The whole approach was different right away, I was told by Love the Design, that I “HAD TO” check this place out… First off, coming from such a store I was a little scared, I thought, oh boy the prices are going to be unattainable for my budget… But I “have to” check it out… I approached the store and instantly was blown away by the store’s windows! They were so well styled with huge vintage marquee lettering, a beautiful antique wooden bench, lights salvaged from what I imagine were warehouses, a tall amazing spot light made from vintage stage lights! Old school bowling pins, Victorian boots, and a crate top, hanging as a piece of art from Victor radio. How cool is that, was it a reproduction? Maybe, but so clever! The whole window display was beyond clever!

In I go! Wow, wow, just wow!

I went in and instantly started to scan the whole store, walked to the back of the store and (dramatic yes), was ready to die happy! Really, I couldn’t catch my breath, I was trying to take everything in at once, react to everything at once… I had to calm down, not sure why I picked this Saturday of all days to become a crazy person!? It’s almost like I’ve never been in public before! Really, snap out of it! I was starting to get on my own nerves! Okay, if I have to be honest, I do tend to get a little excited about things I love and boy this store was up there in the love department!

It was my “someday” store, everything in my head, the thin-slat hard wood floors, unfinished, the deep colour at the entrance, the rusty bits, the industrial tables and desks, the lighting, oh the lighting and as if the owner of this store was trying to push me personally over the edge, the industrial luggage carts, TWO of them! Even now writing about this, I’m getting a little worked up…

All this beauty, you know what the back drop to all of it was? Lovely, textured greying brick! 20130216_161814Metropolis Living | Vin'yet Etc.

A very pretty girl was behind the counter, I thought it was her store, I told her, “beautiful job merchandising”… She informed me that it was her Dad’s store and he does all of the merchandising, he also builds most of what I was looking at… Apparently he was a graphic designer, that explains a lot, perfect scale, colours, vignettes and the merchandise was to die for…

Hand Made Letters | Vin'yet Etc. They make all of these wonderful letters in their shop. They also build custom pieces for clients.

Light Collage | Vin'yet Etc. And they make their own lighting! I am in love with this! The chicken feeder, upper left, is one I wanted to make myself for our summer kitchen reno, I could not find a chicken feeder that had not already been re-purposed… Of course I wanted to do it myself… It was so cool to see it hanging in real life at this store though!

Pretty GirlThis art was leaning against a very industrial cabinet, I love the contrast of that, and she was just pretty to me, even the aged look of the canvas I liked… I swear no one is paying me to say this, I honestly loved everything about this place! 🙂

I will let the pictures speak for themselves…20130216_163905That table! <3

Have a seat | Vin'yet Etc.I asked what kind of chair this was, it’s supposed to be a dentist chair, but to me it looks more like an insane asylum chair… Not sure?

Dentist tool cabinet | Vin'yet Etc. This is a dentist’s cabinet, beautiful!

What did I take home from this place? Well, I wanted one of everything, but had to make a decision. I think I made the right one, what do you think?

Love this | Vin'yet Etc.

This scale is still waiting for the exact right plant, in the mean time it has this fake one, I just couldn’t wait to hang it… What a face it has!

Thank-you for joining in on my dream day! I hope you enjoyed my adventure, I am planning to get back and finish off the 4 stores I didn’t get to, stay tuned!Thank-you From Vin'yet Etcphoto credit: woodleywonderworks via photopin cc

I would also like to take this opportunity to say, no one is sponsoring me, no one is asking me to write for them, I am not getting anything for free, or reduced prices, I honestly and genuinely like/love/admire the stores I was in! I highly recommend you check them out for your selves if you happen to be in the Toronto area!

O.M.G.!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for pointing me to this post. O.M.G!!!!! LAURIE!!! This place is incredible, and exactly my style. I love EVERYTHING in this store. It’s amazing. All of it!! I think you made a great choice in your purchase, and good for you for being able to stick to just one. That would have been discipline at it’s best, I’m sure. The photos are beautiful, and I also wanted to mention, my hubs would be insanely jealous of your seltzer bottle collection. We don’t have any vintage ones yet, and he’s been dying to find one, but I keep holding out trying to actually treasure hunt it down myself – I’m still hunting!! 😉

I know, right!!!!??? It’s amazing and not one word of my over reaction is put on, I was blown away and loved every square inch of the place! Can’t wait to go back! Listen, reference the seltzer bottles… have you ever been to Almonte? There is an antique store there that houses different vendors. You must check it out, they have the most seltzer bottles I’ve ever seen in one place. 😀 Here is the link. http://www.almonteantiquemarket.net/
