My obsession with cozy continues into 2018

Hygge - Cozy Living | Vinyet Etc.

Hi there! Happy New Year and welcome (Dodi welcomes you too but she’s having a cozy nap first)!

I can’t believe we are starting the journey on a whole new year already… 2017 seemed to just fly on by!  We have a lot of things planned for Vinyet in 2018 and we hope you’ll follow along on all of our adventures! I’m not going to list the projects that we have in the hopper, being a veteran’s wife the saying that comes to mind is, “no battle plan ever survives contact”, meaning life has a way of taking you and deciding for you what does and does not get done, at least that is what happened last year, soooooo regardless of what projects we do (or do not do) we hope you’ll stick around and enjoy where the next 365 days take us, we do adore sharing our lives and our ideas with you and having fun in the process – well that’s just a bonus. I’m so grateful that you all stick around – hopefully you’ll glean some inspiration from our pages! xo

Hygge - Cozy Living | Vinyet Etc.

Have you heard the word hygge before? It’s pronounced (HEW-ga) – kind of like an old fashioned car horn would sound – hewwww -ga. 😉 Hygge encompasses a feeling of contentment, a feeling of well-being, the same kinds of feelings that being in the coziest and most comfy spot would bring. Hygge, is a Danish concept that basically means living intentionally, living in the moment and enjoying all of the simple things that our lives offer to each of us. I was introduced to this intriguing word in 2017 by my lovely friend, Jennifer from Town & Country Living . She developed a wonderful new “Cozy Living” series, myself and 9 lovely blogging friends share our thoughts, feelings and concepts of how we Hygge – how we cozy and I couldn’t be happier to be included in this wonderful series!

This post is a recap of our “cozy” posts in 2017, how we not only brought more cozy to our lives but how we both realized this is how we’ve naturally been heading all along… we’ve been on this simplifying “movement” for a few years now and NOW I have a word that embodies what we’ve have been trying to add more of to our every day, adding gratitude to our lives has changed everything – Hygge. My own journey with gratitude started in 2014, when I lost both of my parents within a 6 month time period… you may wonder how I felt gratitude at such a trying time – but for me it all became so clear then.

CozyBlanketLadder | Vinyet Etc.

Our blanket ladder project was the first in the cozy series, I’m a bit of a blanket hoarder and being cozy while we hunker in for the evening is a must for me, I’m always cold and I’m not ashamed to say, I love my blankies. 😉 Naturally we’d need a spot for them ( a spot or two for our cozy throws).

Our next cozy post was very, very popular! I’m actually thrilled that there are so many of you out there that love the idea of our little barn tree as much as we do! This tradition is one of my favourites at Christmas time… I’m thinking maybe next year I’ll do a red blanket instead of hay? hmmmm we’ll see.

I was so happy when we finally got some snow for our barn tree, sigh I just love this! This whole scene makes me feel hygge!

I’m thrilled to be continuing on this obsession in finding all the cozy for 2018! I’m doubly glad I get to do it with such a talented crew of women I really respect and admire, so much gratitude for this opportunity. What are some of the ways you feel hygge, I’d love to hear all about them?

Laurie, I’m still gawking over your barn and tree! For me, hygge is about anything that warms my heart – and my toes. Like lots of blankets. I’m sitting with three blankets right now as I type this and gazing outside at the pretty carpet of snow. Can’t wait to continue this cozy journey with you through 2018!
