Happy Monday everyone! Is that really ever true, is Monday ever a happy day? I’ve decided to extend my wonderful weekend a little further to make my own Monday happier, if you’ll indulge me I’d like to recap this past 2 days with pictures and some reflection.
After some lovely gifts and lots of love from my son Mike, Bud and I went exploring on Mother’s Day. For those of you that know us personally know that this is our favorite thing to do. You just never know what you will find, who you will meet and what will inspire… I was so very emotional to be out exploring yesterday, it made me realize that in our busy lives with renos and getting our house ready to sell we do not do this nearly enough, I missed it more than I knew!
At one point Bud walked on ahead of me and I stood at the top of a beautiful hill and started to cry… it just felt amazing to be surrounded by the simplicity and the complexity of nature, sappy yes, don’t get me wrong, I have not been locked up for the past few months, it was just an awaking for me, to be more creative and to be in touch with yourself you have to go do what you love, for me that’s exploring!
With our back-roads map leading the way we came across the 6th wonder of the Seven wonders of Lanark County. We will have to go back to this lovely place, it was just a pass through and we must explore this beautiful mine!
We then made our way to the village of Westport, Ontario. We have been hearing about this little spot from our friends for a bit, it was about time we finally made it there. We found our selves in a little antique shop (shocking I know) in behind this bed and breakfast, A Victorian Reflection. The little store was immaculate, I will be going back to do a “hunting” feature, because this store deserves more time than I had… here are some pictures and yes we did end up getting goodies, although I left something behind that I will have to get next time… I am kicking myself for not taking a photo of the vintage wooden laundry trolley.

What beautiful photos, Laurie. I’m so glad you were able to have this adventure on Mother’s Day weekend. All of that gorgeous outdoors – I can totally understand why you cried. And oh, that antique store. You found some real goodies, but that wooden laundry cart sounds soooo wonderful! Are you buying it? laurie
Hi Laurie, I’ll buy it (hopefully) when I go back… they had 5 or 6, beautiful… really kicking myself I didn’t take pictures. But hey, that’s a great reason to go back! 😉

Ah! So sweet, Laurie. 🙂 What a nice way to spend Mother’s Day, it looks lovely in the photos. It has been a while since I was down in Westport, maybe worth a drive out this summer. I have no idea what your zoomed photos are of! But, that rusty blue is beautiful!
Hi Tia, the rusty blue is stunning, it’s just an old rusty plate that has been hanging around forever, the other rusty bit is an old floor grate and the braided green is copper very heavy gauge wire that is installed on roofs to ground it from lighting.

What a great Mother’s Day! Exploring is one of our favorite things to do, too! I would have been lost for hours in that vintage store, judging from all the wonderful finds just in the pictures you shared! Hope you get that laundry cart so we can see what it looks like! 🙂

Funny story, we went house hunting on Tuesday and one of the properties we went to look at had one right on the door step… I scared the realtor and Bud a bit when I screamed… but I now have a picture. 😀 I could share that with you if you’d like?

Sounds like a lovely day. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in what we’re doing everyday that we forget to take time appreciate the simple stuff. Love your finds and your photography is really coming along (I really need to take a few more lessons!).
Thanks Shauna! We do get wrapped up, my hubs calls it being wrapped around the axle… he’s a car guy. 😉 The simple stuff is what life is about it’s a challenge to keep that in the front of your mind at all times…
