Fall decorates for us

Do I decorate for fall?

I’m always torn…should I or should I not?

Why do I struggle with something so, silly? Well I feel that autumn decorates for us, I don’t really have the urge to prepare my home for fall, not like I do for Christmas.Β  I am so in awe of the show that nature puts on, it starts slowly and builds to a big beautiful explosion of colour. Regardless of how many falls I’ve seen, it never fails to amaze, impress and inspire me.

I’m always out exploring the wonderment and the stunning show that is just before my eyes.

The colours, the movement… always amazing and are always able to take my breath away.

And, if you happen to add a barn to all of the fall beauty, well, if you’ve hung out here at all you know how obsessed I am with barns… swoon!

These colours just seem to go hand in hand with a rustic barn, don’t you think?

On a Sunday evening drive I was saying, “pull over” so often we were stopping every few minutes. Spectacular!

I could sit and daydream for hours…

Pretty colours all around us, I hope you are able to take in the beauty that surrounds you and sit and daydream too?

Mr. Mans and I are blessed that all of this is so close to us, just a nice Sunday drive and we get to marvel at all this beauty. This is one of my favourite spots and is located at Jones Falls Lockstation, Elgin, Ontario.

I’m sorry… I got carried away there. Back to the original question… do I decorate for fall?

PorchFall | Vin'yet Etc.

I guess I kind of do… I go simple.

I go for nature and I go for cozy.

While I do traditionally add tiny touches of fall to our home, there is one tradition that I hope never stops for us, discovering our amazing surroundings, exploring and celebrating the beauty that is nature.

SimplePorchCollage | Vin'yet Etc. Simple touches of colour and texture give me the comfort that I crave this time of year. Our antique headboard bench is still such a conversation piece on our front porch and she looks just as beautiful in fall as she did in the summer.

As we celebrate our Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend we will be reflecting on the year we’ve just been through, the loss of our special loved ones, the gift of having more time with Mr. Mans Mama, the strength of friends and family… how they rally and comfort and love, and how that gives us the strength to carry on, to keep our chins up, to be so very grateful for each and every day. My hope and wish for all of you is to have a fun filled loving fall, take the time to look around you and really see the beauty that is your world. I am beyond thankful for this year, regardless of the immense loss and broken hearts… my memories are what I am grateful for, I was so truly loved by the best parents in the world, their support and strength in their own life are my guiding light today.

Many, many blessing to all of you and your families! Signature

Love these pictures! I love fall so much. You are right that you are lucky to live so close to some gorgeous locations.

I also love those white pumpkins in the basket. Hmmm… I may have to try that idea. πŸ™‚

Beautiful post Laurie. I’m always thinking I wish I had my camera with me when I’m out and about this time of year. You’ve inspired me to take a drive just to take photos. Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!

Thanks Shauna! I’m always kicking myself for leaving my camera home… I have to put it by the front door and just get into the habit. I’m glad we go for “sightseeing” drives every now and then. Happy Thanksgiving friend of mine!

For me, fall is about getting outdoors rather than bringing the fall indoors. It’s one of my favourite seasons to be outside, so I totally understand where you’re coming from. Lovely photos!

Ditto, I love exploring and bringing nature into our home. I’m always a little surprised when I come across those that don’t “see” what I see. I’m so glad you do, missing our chats. Things are crazy busy for both of us, we’ll have to take some time soon to catch up. xoxo

Such a beautiful post filled with autumn eye candy. I’ve really been enjoying your pics on FB, Laurie – they’re all so stunning. The colours are incredible. Your question – do I decorate for fall? Not really, not that much anymore. I used to a little bit, but this year it has totally escaped me. Now Christmas… that’s a whole other story!

You have such a talent Laurie! I love your photographs!

I don’t decorate for fall as I don’t decorate for spring, or summer or winter. Christmas is really the only time of year I decorate. I may move things around seasonally, but I don’t do much more than that. I agree that mother nature does a pretty darn good job of decorating – for fall or any other season.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Thank-you so much Donna! πŸ˜€ I don’t decorate for all of the seasons either… Christmas is the only time I go all out, and even then… it’s very tame compared to some… I wonder, does this make me a bad blogger? πŸ˜‰

Woah! Your photos are gorgeous Laurie! If you struggle with Fall decorating, why not just frame some of these lovely shots and hang ’em?? Just a thought, I don’t decorate for Fall at all.

      HA, great idea Heather! πŸ™‚

Your pictures are stunning ! And, I agree with Heather Meads your pictures would look lovely framed.
We don’t have the beautiful Fall season like you do. Our trees go from green to dead basically. So, I have to decorate to make my home have that Fall feeling. Thank you for sharing you gorgeous pictures. I would love to invite you to share them with us at the Click and Chat Link up Party going on now. http://www.thisolemom.com Have a lovely day, Kim
