Hello friends, welcome to the 2018 Canadian Bloggers Home Tour, Fall edition! I’m so excited to be here with you today sharing our vintage and cozy living room. And the fact that I’m joining in with my lovely Canadian blogging friends, well that’s just the cherry on top! YAY!! Colour Inspiration

Fall Colours - OurVintageCozyFallLivingRoom-Vinyet Etc

My colour inspiration for Fall this year came to me while we were on Summer vacation actually. I was in a sweet little shop in New Brunswick and I saw a beautiful botanical poster, I just had to have it! The gorgeous marigold aka mustard and navy colour combination in my opinion is swoon worthy – beautiful contrasting goodness! I’m also a massive lover of botanicals too so this purchase for me was a no brainer! It’s so funny how things work out really, if you follow Vinyet Etc on Instagram you know I recently built a cabinet for our vintage leaded glass windows, I had such a time deciding on a colour to paint it… my IG friend’s voted and by one vote they picked midnight blue – the PERFECT colour… so by “accident” this statement cabinet fits perfectly into our fall colour scheme, meant to be, right?! If you’d like to read about my new favourite cabinet you can see more here

And a great BIG thank you to our hostesses – (with the mostesses I might add) – Christina from, The DIY Mommy and Shannon from, Home Made Lovely.

Vintage and Cozy

Collected pieces - OurVintageCozyFallLivingRoom-Vinyet Etc

I’ve been simplifying around here for a bit – transitioning our decor style by surrounding ourselves and focusing on having things that we love, all topped off of course with cozy! We have a very collected style (AKA vintage), sentimental pieces that mean the world to us both, things that catch my eye and tells a great story too! It’s not a surprise that we LOVE vintage – I love vintage so much I got together with some vintage loving friends and started a FB group – Creative Vintage Darlings, if that’s your cup of tea too, it’s an open invite, come share your vintage obsession with us! xo

Vintage vignettes - How to bring drama into your home without the DRAMA – cozy living | Vinyet Etc

The antique wooden architectural scroll piece on top of this cabinet is from our hometown in New Brunswick, it’s saved (rescued) from an old building that was to be demolished… my Mom’s sweet little photo is very simply leaning against it. If you’ve been here for a bit you know that hummingbirds to me and my family mean Mom is near, that she’s still taking care of us all – we actually see them so much.

Beautiful leaded glass and feathers - OurVintageCozyFallLivingRoom-Vinyet Etc

My favourite vintage wooden pieces and beautiful foraged bluejay feathers, perfectly and simply fall.

Thrifted brass candle sticks - OurVintageCozyFallLivingRoom-Vinyet Etc

I’ve also very simply added more brass to our living room – I found so many candle sticks while visiting my local thrift store – these were collected on multiple visits. Brass is kind of the perfect warm and cozy gold colour, don’t you think? I also love tucking some colour in my vignettes – this ball of coloured twine is one of my faves and is the perfect addition of texture against that beautiful navy.

Summer Memories

Sea glass and special memories - OurVintageCozyFallLivingRoom-Vinyet Etc

One of the other ways I love “dipping my toes” into fall is by display some summertime memories. This sea glass was collected with two of my favourite little people – it’s like they were on a mission to get ALL the sea glass for Nanny! hahaha, I loved every second! And of course candles, candles are always flickering here especially as the weather cools down.

Transitioning to Fall with layers

Cozy Throws - OurVintageCozyFallLivingRoom | Vinyet Etc

Some women love and collect shoes… I love and collect throws and pillows! To me there is nothing better than flopping down on the sofa at the end of a very busy day with the softest and coziest throw! Adding in your seasonal colours with cozy throws is a great reason aka “excuse” to buy all the throws! hehehe I’m sneaky and my linen closet may be very full!

Like it was meant to be – the throw hanging on the ladder jumped into my shopping cart – thank you HomeSense! 😉

Being okay with non-perfect

 Vintage trophies - OurVintageFallLivingRoom-Vinyet Etc

The more I hang out on the iterwebz the more I feel and see people striving to attain a “perfection” of sorts… and this isn’t a bad thing if that’s your desire, it’s just not our desire frankly. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve strived for that perfect… and it’s beyond exhausting! So here we are, our home is far from perfect, I see projects everywhere… baseboards that need finishing, maybe a proper mantel… I could go on and on, but it’s okay – Bud and I are happy and proud that we are doing it all when time and budget allow! It’s very important to both of us that our home feels welcoming and cozy and reflects both of us and I think it does that, perfectly.

Thank you so much for stopping in for a cozy visit; on this first day of this 2018 Fall, Canadian Bloggers Home Tour, stay tuned for a full week of jam-packed inspiration!

That poster is gorgeous, Laurie! I love it! I found a great papery with those vintage style posters while we were on holidays this summer, as well, and I bought a couple of them, along with some metal signs. I still have to take mine out of the package 🙁 Now I’m inspired to!

Your home is lovely and I so enjoy your easy style and decorating sense. Thanks also for the idea to put sea glass in a mason jar – I’ve got a few pieces that I have in a dish but putting them in a small jar will give them so much more dimension.

I don’t think there’s a season that doesn’t look fabulous in your home. I had to pause and appreciate the first photo, it’s so full of you and fall.
