Simple gift wrapping using dollar store finds – Christmas Ideas Tour

Gift wrap - Christmas Ideas - Vinyet Etc

The holidays are so very hectic, am I right? Being all the things for all the people, and doing all the things at the very same time! Are you the same as me, do you try to do all the things? I’m not sure why I put all of this pressure on myself, but it seems like it’s been a cumulative thing. I seem to raise the “bar”, year after year and honestly it’s all self-imposed and very needless! AND, it’s NOT the point of this magical season at all!  I mean, gift wrap is usually ripped off and forgotten – so why spend a small fortune and tons of time on it? But, I do like to give cute looking gifts, so… I’m sharing a simple little Christmas gift wrap hack with you, it’s the best of both worlds IMHO.  🙂

Christmas Ideas Tour

Welcome to 2019’s Christmas Ideas Tour hosted by the lovely Angie over at Postcards From The Ridge! I’m joining in with 19 very talented friends and we’re all sharing our Christmas ideas with you, so fun! Thank you Angie, this is always my favourite tour! xo

How to

Well if you are like me at all, if you can use this little hack, something / anything to make my Christmas a little less hectic. I thought I’d share how I make my life a bit easier (and cheaper ) when it comes to gift wrap for the holidays. This I think must be the easiest project I’ve ever blogged about. I almost didn’t write about it, but like I said above, that’s the point, E A S Y!  This gift wrap hack is to simplify at this crazy time of year.

I picked up some plain buffalo-check gift bags and some mini pompoms in the same colour as the buffalo-check from our local Dollarama. I really love buffalo check, it’s simple neutral and is great for any occasion. And mini pompoms, who doesn’t love pompoms?!!!

Here is where I tell you, with all of the “extra” time I saved doing this very simple project I should’ve run, not walked to go get a manicure! Oh my goodness – ***blush***! These are the hands that stay busy and build things… and frankly I don’t even notice, not until I started to post photos! DOH! 😉

Seriously though, just plop a spot of glue from a glue gun on the bottom of the mini pompom(s) and place each mini on the coordinating colour. So easy, but so cute!  That’s it, that’s all! Like I said, easy!

Laurie, what a great idea. These bags are so cute. Great for the holidays but I think would look nice all year round.

What an adorable idea! If you gave me a gift in one of your bags, I’d save it and reuse it for sure.

Super cute, Laurie! I think I’d like to use some of my vintage button stash for this idea! Now to find some buffalo check bags…So fun hopping with you, friend!

I’m right with you on not spending a lot of money on gift wrap and I’m all for making the best of dollar store finds instead. Your pompom gift bags are adorable and who doesn’t love a black & white buffalo check bag! Besides, it can be reused and not end up in the landfill, what’s not to love about that.

Pom poms rule! They automagically make everything more whimsical and fun. What a great idea.

    Thanks for the inspiration.

    Hugs,

The pom poms are such a fun, tactile addition…I love this idea!! And yes, I take on way too much each year and overdo it… when will we learn??

Well, these are just the most adorable gift wraps in the history of ever. It’s so simple and yet SOOOOO cute!!! But my non-crafty pea-brain would have never thought to add pom poms. So in my book, you get the crafty genius high-five. Thanks so much for sharing, I’ll be on the lookout for some pom poms… Happy, happy Holidays!

Every year I think I will adorn or some how enhance my wrapping paper. I never get to it, lucky I even have tags to put on them. Maybe this is the year I head to the dollar store and actually do it!
