Summer Cabinet Style – Cozy Living

Summer Cabinet Style - Cozy Living - Vinyet Etc

Happy August Friends! I hope you’ve been enjoying your summer so far and have been lucky enough to experience some reasonable weather? We’ve had a few weeks of heatwaves – not a huge fan, I must say! Thank goodness for the lake and thank goodness for air conditioning… staying in and playing in our kitchen cabinet, styling it for summer with the air conditioning on = heaven! 😉  Today I’ll be sharing a photo heavy post and I’ll be chit chatting about how I’ve styled it for summer!  I hope you like it! xo

I mean, I’m just a tiny bit obsessed with my collection of dundee marmalade crocks.  Seeing them behind glass gives me a happy feeling.

Peony season is so so fast, too fast actually… I love drying these beauties and hanging on to them as long as possible.  I decided to grab a couple of dried petals that fell off of a flower and clipped a dried stem, I put it all together and made a little faux pressed flower.  I love how sweet and simple this is.

There is just something so charming about spying treasures behind glass.

I enjoy more little fakers in our cabinet too… adding some greenery and textured faux plants adds life and freshness to a vignette.

Stacking little butter pats on vintage linens is a great way to cozy up any vignette.

I love all of the imperfect marks and nicks in our cabinet, if only this cabinet could talk.

I’m still pretty smitten with green glass… it’s harder to come by than one would expect. I mean there is green glass around, just not that deep green I love so much.

I love buying things from my home province… New Brunswick, we are truly missing traveling home this year, I find myself craving the salt air. Sometimes other things get a special place in this cabinet along with my favourites simply because I’m drawn to them. Hello little pie bird!

There are so many wonderful memories here… collecting with my wonderful SIL such special gifts, all treasured moments  to me…

That salt holder is simply the best colour, the crazing is  perfection and it’s the most wonderful summer colour.

Cake and cupcake stands are irresistible…

Pretty little scalloped dessert plates, I’d love to have more from this pattern, it’s called Cream Lace

A different view, I just couldn’t resist.

There are a few treasures I just can’t leave behind when I’m out hunting… interesting wooden pieces are always a quick grab –  and usually they are in my favourite price range too, cheap (I do LOVE a deal).

Opps, another view of my dundees… 😉

I hope you’ve enjoyed our cabinet styled for summer? Really it’s just an excuse to play and dust all the things… hahaha restyling lightens the mood in our home,  all ready for summer days.

Before

I never think to take a before picture with my camera prior to playing… here’s a quick snap with my phone.

Even though I have used many of the same items, there are a couple of different things I have added that has helped lighten to it up for summer. I love the sweet botanical image from a puzzle I worked on over the last few months, it was the “cheat sheet” for the puzzle and I just needed to use it somewhere, I may frame it one of these days.  I also decided to add some dessert stands in white,  white is one of my favourite ways to lighten the mood.  I also had my dundees spread out in the kitchen, in a different cabinet even… I really like how they make a great statement all gathered together… just the one has strayed. 😉  I have also simplified and removed some stuff, I’m really loving how it looks!

The  cabinet is all layered and ready for summer, even if it’s a little late to the party (when is the first day of summer again?) I love how lightening this up makes this cabinet feel fresh.

Now, please have a peek at what my lovely friends are up to for August.

Do you know – I always think of you now when I see Dundee Marmalade jars? It’s true! I absolutely ADORE that little pressed peony. My friends and I were just talking about pressing flowers and how to use a double glass frame on Monday. If you’re ever in the Chicago area, I need you to come to my house and arrange my vignettes for me. 🙂

Gorgeous! I always love your styling. Love all the crocks and your shelf. Also, what a fabulous idea to press peonies. Never thought of that!

    • Reply Laurie September 4, 2020 at 10:43 am

Thanks Danielle! It’s actually not a full peony (it was too thick), it’s a few of the leaves and a stem… I’m glad you like it. xo
