Happy Canada Day – Vintage Potting Bench

Happy Canada Day - Vintage Potting Bench

I love Canada Day, however I don’t love going all out with the Canada Day decor! Gasp, I know, bad Canadian! 😉 I do love bringing in subtle pops of red and white, Canadian colours for our July 1st celebrations though.  Of course I also adore sprinkling in thrifted vintage on my potting bench,  she’s a real focal piece of our porch so she get’s some of the Canada Day attention. If you’d like to see some past potting bench looks you can check those out here –> Vintage Potting Bench DIY and here —>  Vintage Potting Bench – Styling with Function in Mind.  This space on our porch is so fun to play with.

This year, we planted a cutting garden and  I am LOVING having flowers available for me to go clip whenever my heart desires. I may have created a monster! Let’s chit chat about the Thrifty Style Team, because it’s that time again…

The Thrifty Style Team

Thrifty Style Team

It’s the second Friday of the month and that means I’m hanging out with my thrifty friends, YAY!   The Thrifty Style Team is hosted by  Julie over at Redhead Can Decorate. Each month the TST will be sharing inspiring and thrifty home decor projects with you all,  you can find the whole team and all of the links to their projects at the end of my post.  This month we are sharing our patriotic home decorating ideas, here is a sneak peek of everyone’s projects.

I love adding my vintage goodies to any and all vignettes I create, and for Canada Day it’ll be no different. As I stated above I don’t go all out for CD, pops of red and white are enough for my patriotic heart.

I love this red vintage meat grinder, it’s simply a perfect why to display my red and white dahlias, I’m smitten!

Red wooden beads are another way to bring in that pop of red, they usually come out at Christmas time but Canada Day is another great reason to bring them out, don’t you think?  And of course we need to bring out my maple syrup candle, YUM!

Mixing different reds isn’t a big deal either in my books,  I’m not much a matching all the things kind of girl. 😉 And, can we just take a moment… I grew this lavender, I’m so proud! They smell SO good and hello for adorable!

I’m developing a thing for abacuses (or abaci depending on your preference) and the pops of red are just perfect for this Canada Day potting bench.

Hi there, my Canadian friend! I adore your potting bench and it looks so lovely with your red and white decorations for Canada Day! Only you would think to use an old meat grinder as a flower holder! I’m old as dirt and there was an abacus in my first grade classroom when I started school. I was always fascinated with it!

Laurie, I love all of your vintage finds. The meat grinder with the flowers is fun and funny. Those old abacus have me green with envy. And your flowers and lavender are gorgeous! I can’t wait to see how you photograph them because I know you will, thankfully. 🙂
